World of 2001: A Space Odyssey add-on

World of 2001: A Space Odyssey is an add-on creted by Erik "Sputnik" Anderson, Alain "80MilesHigh" Hosking and Wolfgang "Nautilus" Schwarz for Orbiter - a closed source freeware space flight simulator by dr Martin Schweiger. This add-on features a number of spacecraft, stations and ground infrastructure that is based on the concepts presented in Arthur C. Clarke's books (2001: A Space Odyssey, 2010: Odyssey Two, 2061: Odyssey Three and The Lost Worlds of 2001).

While developing the add-on the authors took some liberty to include items that were not mentioned in neither source novels nor films[1]. A the same time thay had to take some decisions to resolve a number of inconsistencies and conflicts between those sources[2].

The add-on is distributed as a .zip package that contains:

All spacecraft have .dll plug-in module, config file, mesh and texture files.
[edit] Add-on history and evolution
The addon has been under development since XXX. The first public realease (Version 1.0) has been publised on XXX. The author gives credit to a number of other Orbiter developers for inspiration and code.
